This is an absolutely beautiful hotel - the building is very old and gorgeous, with a great central location, and staff were really friendly. Only reason I don't give it five stars is the wifi didn't stretch to our room and the shower wasn't great. Other than that it was lovely.

This place is so special and important to me. Rosita, Emilio, Nigella, Ana.. all the staff are so pleasant and kind. The location is phenomenal and the pool is enjoyable. Views of the Cathedrals are also an added bonus. There's a cute restaurant where you can eat and watch lizards crawl by on the first floor. I already miss the great orange juice. I definitely recommend getting a room on the top floor. Make sure your ac works too! I did not see a single roach, thought my room was pretty clean actually. Definitely going back here some day hopefully soon!

Great hotel. Amazing pool on the roof that overlooks the main cities church. Not expensive and not crowded. This awesome hotel is located right in the heart of Merida. I highly recommend staying here !

Our stay started off badly. We checked in in the afternoon and wanted to take a shower, but the water was not hot, just warmish. The room smelt damp, and that smell never went away. There are no USB sockets in the room. Most annoying was the Internet. We booked this hotel because it sold itself as having fast Internet, but the service was really poor or non-existent. It was only later that I realised that you could get 200mbps, but you needed to be in the courtyard. The problem is the walls are nearly a metre thick so service in your room is limited. That was the bad news. The good part is that this is a lovely building and I like the charm of these old buildings. The location is great too and a good place to base yourself for getting around Merida.

We had hot water only the first 2 nights. Since then water is cold and they have been trying to fix it unsuccessful so far.

The personnel is incapable of dealing with the customer needs. I called an hour after i checked out to ask about my apple watch that had been left in the room. I was told that for "safety reasons" they would not be able to access the room, after exchanging a few words and waiting for several minutes i managed to get passed that nonsense and after that i was told my watch was not found (I could see the location on my phone) and was told to go back and look for it myself (which wasn't possible since I was boarding a plane within the hour) this employee Jose was unable to understand the severity of the issue and his arrogance prevented me from getting my watch back for the cost of 90 pesos on an uber that was already on the way to pick up the watch and instead made me go through the hassle of sending the watch to my home in Pittsburgh, PA.

Merida is already a pearl and the Hotel Caribe implements this perfectly. The staff are incredibly caring and friendly. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. In addition, it has a small pool on the roof where you can recover well from a tour of the beautiful city with its many alleys.
